UnderwearViews

This series was shot in the early 90’s and exhibited at the Blue Moon Gallery in Wellington. At the time massive Elle Mcpherson billboards were all over the city, Elle was known as ‘the body’ and we mere mortal females were all in her shadow. I wanted to challenge the advertising myth of body perfection and reveal a more personal take on what certain undergarments mean to everyday women.

Between the alchemy of an idea and the photography process a more nuanced story was revealed about feeling good in your own skin.
