Thanks for checking out my site, here is why you’re reading this.
Somewhere in my late 20’s I decided I wanted to be really good at one thing.
I had floundered in a few jobs, thought I could write for a minute and maybe marketing or PR might be a thing for me, but what I realised was that I didn’t actually like being employed … turning up to the same desk every day just wasn’t in my DNA.
I yearned for a creative outlet and felt like I had something to say. The camera was already a close companion, I knew a few pro photographers and decided that photography was going be that ‘one thing’ I would be really good at.
Two years study at Massey and two years assisting for renowned commercial photographer Nick Servian, gave me a broad visual and technical foundation. My first published image appeared in North and South Magazine in 1991.
35yrs of shooting for some of New Zealand’s top companies followed under my business name inlight.nz . Some shoots were extraordinary and some were completely mundane but through it all I never really felt like I was working, I loved every opportunity to be behind the lens.
The greatest constant of photography since its invention is that it constantly changes and evolves. That is also true of being a photographer and now the creative hum and desire to shoot what resonates for me has only become more noisy.
SheSaw.art is now my new platform to share this noisy creative hum, I am now my own demanding client with an open brief to create.
At the heart of my eclectic and free ranging eye is an observation of the human condition, a fascination with the built world, a love of objects, the passing of time and an awe of nature.
My creative intentions lean towards emotional and provocative content cloaked with a refined and unique visual seduction.
